The energy industry is changing and global commitment to the energy transition is set to increase significantly. As innovative ways of generating sustainable energy develop, the supporting storage and transportation infrastructure needs to evolve too. Stanlow Terminals is leading the national change in the development of energy infrastructure and creating the UK’s largest and most comprehensive standalone sustainable energies hub. Utilising a strong geographical position, experience in the energy sector, and integration with the wider Essar Energy Transition businesses, the company is providing delivery solutions based on the ability to safely handle energy products to meet the needs of today’s society and tomorrow’s society.
To support this changing energy landscape, Stanlow Terminals has created a dedicated New Energies business unit to focus on developing new investment opportunities and infrastructure at both the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex and Tranmere Terminal facilities. Once established, it will ideally position the company to adapt as the energy transition market continues to grow further. The New Energies business will be built initially around five core focus areas, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable methanol, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), low-carbon hydrogen, and green ammonia.
The New Energies business will be complementary to Stanlow Terminals’ existing tank terminal and storage businesses that will continue to serve Essar Energy Transition Fuels and other third-party customers. This includes integration with the expansion of current traditional biofuel’s storage and handling capacity, already handling bio-methanol, bio-ethanol, bio-feedstocks, UCOME, HVO (renewable diesel) and other drop-in replacement petroleum products.

Tank Storage Terminals
Providing excellent multimodal connectivity to the UK Oil Pipeline (UKOP) and Manchester Jet Pipeline whilst enabling efficient, sustainable distribution.
Logistics
Stanlow is strategically located for road distribution and connects to the rest of the UK via an extensive road network, making all parts of the mainland accessible.
Port Facilities
Located close to the Tranmere terminal which receives some of the World’s largest vessels and has cross country pipelines to the Stanlow Refinery Complex.
