Tell us a little about your career before you joined Stanlow Terminals

Having spent over a decade in the oil and gas industry, I’ve been in my current position as a Quality and Operations Assurance Specialist for nearly a year. In 2022, I relocated from the Philippines to the UK, where I initially worked at the National Physics Laboratory in London before relocating to the North and taking up a position at Stanlow Terminals.

Talk us through your day-to-day activity

As a Quality and Operations Assurance Specialist, my day typically starts with a review of the day’s schedule, a cup of coffee in hand, and a quick catch-up with colleagues.  The mornings are dedicated to conducting activities that serve as the second level of assurance and control. From document reviews to process audits, my focus is on identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions to day-to-day operational challenges.

What do you most enjoy about your role?

A significant part of my role involves collaborating with all functions within the organisation.  The seamless interaction with various departments ensures that our operations are streamlined, productive, and aligned with the company’s vision of becoming more efficient, sustainable and reliable.

Tell us about the projects you are working on

Here at Stanlow Terminals, we work on projects that echo our commitment to being the leading sustainable energy hub in the UK.  These projects involve a diverse portfolio of assets and customers, aiming for growth, higher market share, and a wider coverage network.

The goal is to have a greater impact on the UK industry and population, pushing towards a more sustainable future without compromising on quality, health and safety or the environment.

Stanlow Terminals’ objective is to support the energy transition.  Can you describe how this is impacts on your role?

Looking ahead, Stanlow Terminals envisions managing and overseeing additional strategic oil terminals and pipelines in the UK.  This exponential growth is not just about expanding our reach and market share but about embracing greater responsibility in delivering sustainable solutions.

What are you most proud of?

In the midst of these developments, customer service remains a priority. To me, customer service is about providing unwavering support from the initial inquiry to post-delivery.  It’s about adding value to our customers’ experiences, ensuring their satisfaction, and supporting them by having the best interactions with our products and services.

My role adds an essential layer of control to guarantee that only quality and reliable products and services reach our customers.  I am deeply involved in operational excellence, quality assurance and continuous improvement, ensuring that the company remains customer-oriented and focused at all times. Through these efforts, my role directly contributes to adding value to our products and services.

At the end of the day, it’s a real pleasure working with such a fantastic and diverse team, meaning that I can go home and enjoy my weekends, exploring the beautiful landscape here in the North West, knowing that I have contributed to the vision of a more sustainable and customer-focused future.
